My Journey to Renewal
Welcome to My Renewal Era!
My name is Amy Slater Solomon. I am a Mama to three beautiful Boys, a Wife, a Sister, a Daughter, I am an entrepreneur, I am also a three time breast cancer thriver.
My Journey as a 3 time Breast Cancer Thriver
Life has a way of presenting us with challenges that test our resilience, courage, and spirit. For me, these tests came in the form of breast cancer—Twice metastatic node positive and once as a malignant breast tissue tumour. Each encounter was a transformative journey that reshaped my understanding of healing, strength, and the profound beauty of life itself.
First Encounter: April 2014
In April 2014, I faced the formidable diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer for the first time. It was a moment that would change everything. My journey began with a rigorous and conventional approach—6 rounds of chemotherapy, 15 rounds of Herceptin (immunotherapy), and a double mastectomy with lymph node removal (October 2014) and immediate reconstruction. lymph nodes were involved, adding complexity and urgency to my treatment. The path was daunting, yet it was also an awakening to the depths of my strength and the resilience of the human spirit.
Second Encounter: June 2024
A decade later, in June 2024, I found myself once again facing the familiar, yet still terrifying, reality of metastatic breast cancer. This time, however, I chose a different path—a blended holistic and conventional approach to healing. Preferring to combine the wisdom of modern medicine with natural therapies. It was like my soul was calling out to me, to try harder, to let go of the fear that Doctors instill in you about dying, I truly felt in my heart of hearts that if I were to do Chemotherapy and tamoxifen and Herceptin, that that would be what would kill me, not the cancer. I still believe this. Embracing a journey of body and spirit integration, I opted for surgery and as the universe would have it, I asked for my original surgeon, and got her. I deeply respect her as a medical professional and was glad to have her understanding guidance on my side again. September 4, 2024 I had my surgery, essentially another mastectomy and the removal of both implants, The tumour in my tissue was actually under my implant, so undetectable for Months maybe years, plus more lymph node removal. Again, my lymph nodes were positive, a reminder of the complexity of my condition, but also of the importance of listening to my body and trusting in its capacity to heal.
A New Chapter: February 2025
In February 2025, a malignant tumour reappeared in my chest tissue (same site as before) for a third time, what I believe to be residual from the last surgery, I made yet another pivotal decision. I chose to undergo a third surgery March 27, 2025. With my same trusted Surgeon by my side, and for months still adamantly rejecting Chemotherapy and radiation, from the urging of my truly admirable Surgeon who said, she wouldn’t have anything left to take from, should it come back again, and with a vote including My Children and My Husband, I decided in June 2025 I would agree to do 15 rounds of radiation on my left chest and left axilla (armpit) marking a new chapter in my healing journey. One I was sad to have to take, but It was a decision grounded in love, respect, self-awareness and the knowledge that healing is a deeply personal journey.
Throughout these experiences, I have learned that thriving with cancer is not about the absence of illness but about embracing life with a renewed sense of purpose and vitality. Each encounter has taught me invaluable lessons about the power of resilience, intuition, positivity and the necessity of hope. I am a three time thriver, not just surviving but now truly living, inspired by the boundless potential of the human spirit to overcome and flourish.
As I continue this journey, I carry with me the lessons of my past and the promise of a future filled with possibility, healing, and renewal. May my story and this book offer hope, inspiration and guidance to others navigating their own paths, reminding us all of the limitless strength within.
“Wellness in its most holistic form is not merely the absence of illness, but a state of being that encompasses the presence of vitality in the mind, body and spirit.”
